The Chinese 5G industrial gateway industry has achieved a leapfrog development from technology verification to large-scale application in the past decade. In 2019, the country launched the 512 project of '5G+Industrial Internet', which will be upgraded to the implementation plan in 2024. In 2026, the policy guidance will be continuously strengthened to promote the industry to enter the stage of deep penetration. The market size has jumped from less than 10 billion yuan in 2020 to 45 billion yuan in 2024, with a compound annual growth rate of 20.9% for 5G industrial gateways. It is expected to exceed 51.8 billion yuan by 2025, with industrial grade products accounting for over 42%. The technology path has gone through three generations of evolution: focusing on 5G basic communication at the initial stage, fully integrating edge computing and AI reasoning after 2023, entering the era of AI native architecture and RedCap low power consumption from 2026, and achieving breakthroughs in key technologies such as TSN time sensitive network, OPC UA 2.0 protocol, and national security algorithm, with the time delay compressed from 100 milliseconds to less than 4 ms. Huawei, ZTE, Advantech and other leading companies have formed a differentiated pattern: Huawei has built a 'end-to-end management cloud' full stack ecosystem, ZTE has the highest market share of edge gateways, and Advantech is known for its industrial grade hardware and AI acceleration capabilities. The application extends from auxiliary monitoring to core control and is widely used in scenarios such as remote control of intelligent mines, visual quality inspection of automobile manufacturing, unmanned lifting in ports, and predictive maintenance of power equipment, supporting digital twins and flexible production. The current trend is accelerating towards the collaborative evolution of deterministic networks and computing power, but the interoperability of cross vendor protocols and the standardization of industry standards still need to be deepened.
